LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH, Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville MD
Main Purpose of Job
This position will function at the advanced level of practical nursing. It will provide direct patient care and treatment for the mentally ill. This position is responsible for the coordination and execution of various educational programs for patients and staff. These duties are performed under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse and the assignments are performed in a team relationship according to compliance with the statutes and regulation governing nursing and their standard of practice. This position will support the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Practical Nurses.
Experience: Three years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE SPRINGFIELD HOSPITAL CENTER.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Practical Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be require to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
3. Employees may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in, and therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number where they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
